Technical implementation of PSD2 requirements
With the implementation of PSD2 into national law, German legislators have also mandated the introduction of “strong customer authentication” (SCA) for all payment service providers. Nexi had to implement the technical requirements for processing 2-factor authenticated payment transactions in all transaction systems (POS, online, and mobile processing). This task had to take into account the conditions of the existing acquiring system and fully ensure interaction with the issuer in transaction processing.
The solution
Integration of SCA into all systems
OSTHAVEN was commissioned with project management and project implementation. In addition to the mandatory enhancements in transaction processing, further product features redefined by SCA were also added to the Nexi product portfolio. OSTHAVEN was also commissioned to coordinate the management of the cooperation partners affected by the adjustments. All project activities had to be aligned with the SCA group activities of the Nets Group.
The result
Early market leadership with SCA
The mandatory compliance target was achieved on schedule thanks to the successful introduction and documentation of strong customer authentication (SCA) in the Nexi processing landscape. Furthermore, with the introduction of SCA, Nexi was one of the first payment service providers to support the multi-factor authentication standard across different payment service providers.
