The challenge

Integrating Wero acceptance into a 4-party model

EPI Company SE, the operator of the Wero payment method, introduced the first P2P payments at the end of 2024. The launch of the acceptance business for e-commerce and m-commerce in Germany was planned for 2025. As a shareholder of EPI Company, Nexi acts as an acquirer in the Wero 4-party model. To do this, Nexi had to reintegrate the settlement, invoicing, and reverse processing of a transaction (credit/chargeback) into its process landscape.

The solution

End-to-end integration of Wero

OSTHAVEN was asked to implement all the processes necessary for the acceptance business for the new Wero payment method. This required the implementation of a new merchant payout procedure and fully automated processing of incoming transaction data from various processing sources. At the same time, the existing booking procedure for all Wero process steps was transferred to a fully automated, audit-proof ERP process. Another fundamental component was the API integration of the EPI chargeback portal into Nexi’s new CB environment.

The result

Wero marketable in the Nexi portfolio

Upon completion of the project, a fully established new payment method, Wero, will be created that can be used by Nexi’s entire customer portfolio. The project is currently still in the implementation phase.
