The challenge

Heterogeneous payment structures

The hagebau Group used a variety of different payment service providers, cash register connections, and process variants in the POS and online environment. This historically grown structure hampered efficient payment processes, caused high complexity, and prevented a uniform group-wide infrastructure. In addition, cross-channel customer expectations had to be considered without fundamentally changing the existing provider landscape. The goal was a harmonized, future-proof payment setup for all shareholders and partners.

The solution

Harmonized architecture concept

OSTHAVEN conducted a comprehensive analysis of all contract-, process- and system-related payment elements. Based on this assessment, a target vision for a group-wide harmonized payment infrastructure was developed. POS and e-commerce were deliberately considered separately, as the hagebau Group decided to continue operating both channels with different service providers. Omnichannel capabilities were therefore primarily defined in terms of processes: through clear use cases, coordinated procedures, and uniform integration and service requirements for retailers and partner companies.

The result

Consistent and scalable payment architecture

The hagebau Group received a clearly structured target vision that enables the standardization of the payment infrastructure across all retailers. The defined use cases and coordinated process models created uniform standards for both channels without changing the separate service provider strategy. The target vision made it possible to reduce existing differences, increase efficiency, and lay the foundation for downstream tenders and technical developments. The result: a consistent, scalable payment architecture for the entire group.
