The challenge
Fragmented payment landscape
The hagebau Group historically relied on a large number of different payment service providers, which varied depending on the retailer, system landscape, and region. This fragmentation led to high costs, inconsistent processes, increased integration efforts, and limited controllability. In addition, the service providers’ scopes of services, SLAs, and pricing models were hardly comparable. The goal was to create transparency, standardize requirements, and generate a sound basis for decision-making for group-wide consolidation.
The solution
Structured RFI/RFP process
OSTHAVEN took over the complete preparation and management of the RFI and RFP process. To this end, detailed functional, technical, and commercial requirements were defined in close consultation with hagebau. The retailers’ process variants were consolidated, use cases harmonized, and a transparent evaluation grid developed. Based on this structure, a targeted market survey was conducted, which allowed offers from different providers to be compared objectively. The team ensured that all relevant aspects—from technical interfaces to pricing and SLAs—were fully covered.
The result
Reliable basis for consolidation
The hagebau Group received a reliable basis for decision-making for the future selection of payment service providers. The consolidated requirements and structured evaluation model enabled a transparent comparison of providers across all categories. The RFI/RFP process led to clear insights into the technical capabilities, economic conditions, and integration costs of the providers. This laid the foundation for efficient consolidation of the payment landscape, enabling hagebau to take the next step in the order placement process on a sound strategic basis.
